Here’s a list of eight flowers that are non-toxic to cats. I don’t know about you- but my cat, Pinto, sees my bouquets as lunch. Why? Who knows. He’s an orange cat. Because of this, I’ve been having to double check every time I go to the store what flowers I can and can’t get. The last thing I want is to cause him to get sick.

  1. Roses

Classic and elegant, roses are always a safe option that you can find at most flower vendors. This is my favorite go-to!

2. Snapdragons

My local Safeway sells them and I am OBSESSED. I had to find them though- they were a bit hidden!

3. Sunflowers

Perfect for fall, and also shockingly easy to grow! You can get a whole bag of seeds foe just $2-$3 and have plenty of sunflower bouquets for yourself, family and friends.

4. Zinnia

I am growing SOOO many Zinnias this year and they are also so easy to grow, I watched this video to learn everything I needed about growing them this year!

5. Stocks

My local Safeway also has Stocks! I recently discovered them and am in love! They are also perfect as a filler flower. Here is a picture of Stocks with Foxglove I got the other day.

6. Asters

Just please don’t mix them up with daisies! Daisies are toxic to your fuzzy companion so do a double take on the label!

7. Gerbera

Also known as Gerber Daisies. Okay, I know what I just said about daisies. Don’t let their name confuse you! They are NOT part of the Chrysanthemum family and are non-toxic to pets!

8. Orchids

A staple in many homes, Orchids are a timeless flower you can put anywhere! They may cause indigestion if your kitten decides to have a nibble.

Now that we’ve gone over flowers not poisonous to cats, let’s go over common flowers that ARE toxic to cats.

Lillies, hydrangea, peonies, ranunculus, tulips, daffodils, and daisies are the most common poisonous flowers to cats, however this list is endless! It turns out, most pretty things have a sharp bite to them. I use the app “Picture This” to identify flowers at the store (if they’re unlabeled) and then I’ll google if they’re poisonous or not.

For some reason, only Pinto eats the flowers and not Maui. Anywho, here’s a picture of the culprit!
